April is National Child Abuse Protection Month
York, PA, March 4, 2013 -
April is National Child Abuse Protection Month. Local author and psychologist, Julie Swope, living in York, PA wrote Of Roots and Wings PUBLISHED in November 2012, that recounts abuse as a child and the long lasting effects that were the consequences.
Born into an alcoholic and abusive family, Julie and seven siblings were court ordered by the Schuylkill County courts in Pottsville, PA to the St. Francis Orphanage and Asylum. Within the protective wall of st. Francis, repeated sexual, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual abuses occurred.
At age four Julie was adopted into a wealthy professional family. BUT CHILD ABUSE KNOWS NO CLASS. She experienced repeated abuse by her adoptive father, and trusted servants.
As an adult she encountered numerous meaningless relationships, only to encounter a second marriage, returning her into a world of violent abuse. Her story is not unique, the uniqueness is - she is telling her story to the world - not as the victim she was - but as the survivor she is today. A message of hope abounds.
